Cheryl's Values
Vision
For Long Term Planning. Local Governments across our State are under increasing pressure to provide more with less. It’s about providing staff, providing more services, more resources and of course more infrastructure. I have extensive vision and believe in development of long term planning strategies, which meet these challenges with sustainable infrastructure and service outcomes. I understand community needs, not wants, which can be acknowledged and managed to ensure planning methodologies provide efficient and effective community solutions that meet community expectations. As fourth generation to the region, I possess the sense and attributes of our beautiful areas.
Experience
For Sound Decision Making. Local Government Councillors are elected for a four year term and there is a real expectation that elected officials should take the lead and ‘hit the ground running’ upon their first official day in office. Every day is important and the region is entitled to have Councillors who can work effectively as a team immediately. Time required attending countless training sessions to develop basic workable local government knowledge results in an ineffective Council with unavoidable delays. I have over thirty years experience in Local Government administration, governance and customer service. I also have a deep understanding and enjoy collaborating with community at the grass root level.
Passion
For Committed Action. Change is one unending characteristic of today’s lifestyle and requires constant embracing to ensure that our region is regarded as an intellectual area to live, work and a place to establish successful businesses. Healthy communities are built by listening to communities’ needs and desires and then building things that really serve that passion well. I regard passion as the primary feature as a mover and shaker to get things done, to see things out to the end. It is a highly desired value of community minded persons, and it is a well established fact that communities can be built on passion. People dedicate their time, resources and knowledge to community because it is important. I flourish when there are identified challenges and my passion to obtain the best outcome is simply my personal reward.
